After launching its Eluga Ray 500, Eluga Ray 700, and Eluga I4 handsets earlier this month, Panasonic on Thursday launched its P99 budget-segment smartphone in India at Rs. 7,490. The new P99 smartphone comes with support for 4G VoLTE connectivity and runs Android 7.0 Nougat out-of-the-box and is already available for purchase from the company’s brand shops and retail outlets in Champagne Gold, Black, and Blue colours.
Coming to the specifications, the Panasonic P99 sports a 5-inch HD (720×1280 pixels) display and is powered by a quad-core processor clocked at 1.25GHz coupled with 2GB of RAM. In terms of optics, the P99 comes with an 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash support support for various modes like Beauty, Burst shot, Night, Professional, Watermark, HDR, and Panorama. At front, there is a 5-megapixel camera at front for taking selfies, which supports several camera modes like beauty, Burst shot, HDR, Watermark, the company said in its release.
The Panasonic P99 comes with 16GB of built-in storage, which is further expandable via microSD card (up to 128GB). It houses a 2000mAh battery, measures 144.6×71.8×8.6mm, and weighs 145 grams. The connectivity options offered by the P99 include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, and GPS.
Commenting on the launch, Pankaj Rana, Business Head – Mobility Division, Panasonic India, said, “We are happy to announce an addition to our P-Series smartphone range, the stylish P99 with improved display and various front and back camera modes for our consumers. The new device is equipped with upgraded version of Android 7.0Nougat so that you can multitask and are connected to the world. This new launch will expand consumers’ choice of mobile phones in this price segment.
